Chiaroscuro Quartet: summer festival season and their latest release on BIS

The Chiaroscuro Quartet have a busy summer ahead of them with UK performances including at the Edinburgh International Festival, Snape Proms and Cheltenham Festival, and concerts throughout the rest of Europe including at Musikfest Bremen and the Gstaad Menuhin Festival. These concerts coincide with their latest release for BIS, the second volume of the Haydn Sun Quartets, Op. 20, Nos. 4-6.

A recent review in The Guardian awarded the recording five stars, saying:

“The playing is intense and refined, exploratory and poised. The sound is featherweight, but there is grit and substance when needed.”
Kate Molleson, The Guardian, 22 June 2017

Despite the quartet’s busy schedule, they managed to find enough time for an interview for Classical Music magazine and an extensive cover feature for the July edition of The Strad.

Upcoming performances:

• 30 June – Lambach Abbey, Austria
• 4 July – Conway Hall, London
• 5 July – Music at Thornham, Thornham Magna St Mary Magdalene
• 7 July – Cheltenham International Festival
• 18 August – Edinburgh International Festival – live on BBC Radio 3
• 19 August – Snape Proms, Snape Maltings
• 24 August – Musikfest Bremen
• 27 August – Gstaad Menuhin Festival
