Christine Rice to debut in Giordano’s Andrea Chenier at Covent Garden

Toi toi toi to Christine Rice who will make her role debut as Bersi in Umberto Giordano’s masterpiece, Andrea Chenier, at the Royal Opera House. Praised countless times for her musicality and her unique on-stage presence, Christine will be joined by a remarkable cast which includes Roberto Alagna (Andrea Chenier), Sondra Radvanovsky (Maddalena), Dimitri Platanias (Carlo), conductor Daniel Oren and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House.

A wonderfully versatile singer, Christine has recently returned from a triumphant European tour of Peter Sellars’ staged version of the Bach St John Passion with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment and Sir Simon Rattle, and her upcoming highlights include the Verdi Requiem at the Three Choirs Festival this summer, Elvira (Don Giovanni) at the Royal Opera House, Federica (Luisa Miller) at English National Opera and further returns to Garsington Opera and Covent Garden.
