In the forthcoming seasons, Louis Langrée and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra are collaborating with artist James Darrah on a multimedia project centred round the story of Pelléas and Mélisande. Originally a symbolist play written in 1893 by Maurice Maeterlinck, the work has inspired several settings.
Last week they performed the first concerts, featuring Schoenberg’s great tone poem:

Next season they will perform Fauré’s incidental music to the play, and in 2017, Debussy’s opera.
