Corinna Niemeyer was announced today as the new Artistic and Music Director of the Orchestre de Chambre du Luxembourg starting from September 2020. This four-year appointment comes just six months after her debut with the OCL earlier in the year, and follows her two-year tenure as Assistant Conductor with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra (2018-20).
Founded in 1974, the OCL performs repertoire from the baroque to the present and presents its season at the Luxembourg Philharmonie. Commenting on the appointment, the OCL Board said “this collaboration will allow the orchestra to grow musically while reaching new audiences in Luxembourg, in the Grande Region and beyond.”
Recent highlights for Corinna have included concerts the Gurzenich-Orchester, Konzerthausorchester Berlin and Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, projects with period orchestra Les Siècles, and a tour in Germany with the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. The current season will see her debut with the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Beethoven Orchester Bonn and Helsingborg Symphony.
