Daniel Harding gains his Commercial Pilot’s License & flies off on tour with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

Congratulations to Daniel Harding, who this weekend took to the skies and gained his Commercial Pilot’s License. Over the past three years, Daniel has been honing his skills in the cockpit, working towards both written and practical exams, leading up to this final test. The CPL combined with his theoretical exams and Instrument Rating makes him eligible to apply for a job as an airline co-pilot!

Over the years, he has combined his love for music and flying and has flown himself to many concerts around Europe. This Sunday, Daniel will pilot a small plane from Cannes to Graz where he will meet the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra to begin their European May tour.

The tour will start in Graz (8 & 9 May), before continuing to Salzburg (10, 11 & 12 May), Nuremberg (14 May), Milan (15 Maylive on SR P2), Freiburg (17 May), Vienna (18 May), Frankfurt (20 May) and Zurich (21 May). The orchestra will be performing Stravinsky The Firebird, Brahms Symphony No. 1 and Mahler Symphony No. 5, and are joined by soloists Joshua Bell, performing Chausson Poème, Ravel Tzigane and Bruch Violin Concerto, and Christian Tetzlaff, to perform Dvořák Violin Concerto.
