Das ist ein feines Ding!

Three of the world’s leading interpreters of their respective roles join forces on Thursday 8th May at London’s Barbican Centre, in excerpts of Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier.

Sarah Connolly, Lucy Crowe and Anne Schwanewilms will give their definitive portrayals of Octavian, Sophie and the Marschallin with the London Symphony Orchestra and Sir Mark Elder.

Sarah Connolly made her debut in the role for Scottish Opera in David McVicar’s sumptuous production, before appearing twice in the revival for English National Opera. Lucy Crowe, who also made her role debut for Scottish Opera, has sung the role for the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich. Anne Schwanewilms, one of the world’s greatest interpreters of the works of Strauss, has appeared in the bittersweet role of the Marschallin, at the Wiener Staatsoper, Teatro alla Scala Milan, Netherlands Opera, Dresden Semperoper and for the Staatsoper Berlin.
