David steps in to take over 11 concerts
This week marks the beginning of an 11-concert tour that David Afkham will conduct with the Gustav Mahler Jungendorchester.
David has taken over at short notice from an indisposed Ingo Metzmacher to join the orchestra for their exciting Easter Tour, visiting some of the most important concert halls in Europe.
The tour features two ambitious programmes including Vorspiel and Liebestod from Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, Scriabin’s Poeme de l’Extase, extracts from Wagner’s Götterdämmerung, Zimmermann’s Photoptosis and Shostakovich’s Symphony No.7. David has already conducted the orchestra in a number of concerts and is looking forward to developing his relationship with them during this tour, which also celebrates the orchestra’s 25th anniversary.
