Diapason d’Or for Emmanuel Pahud

Emmanuel Pahud has been awarded yet another music industry award for his recent recording.

Emmanuel Pahud’s recording of the complete works for flute by Frank Martin has just has been just released by Musiques Suisses (MGB 6275) and has immediately been awarded the March 2013 “Diapason d’Or” (France).  “The small label chose a star for this ambitious project…he has an affection for this greatly expressive music…He lives through each metamorphosis in the the Ballade No.1.  In the Sonata da Chiesa, he blends with the sound of the organ to detach himself in the right places…but it is the epic sound of the Ballade No.2 which suits Pahud’s tone best, with singing passages and infectious jazziness”.
This is the most recent in a string of awards over the last year.  Emmanuel’s recording dedicated to flute music at Frederick the Great’s court with Trevor Pinnock was released at the end of 2011 and received Classica Magazine Choc of the Year 2012 and was nominated at the TV Awards Victoires de la Musique 2013.  His CD ‘Best of Quintet Music’ won the Geijutsu Magazine ‘Record Academy Award’ for chamber music (Japan).
