Dmitri Hvorostovsky awarded Order of Merit for the Fatherland of the IV degree

Congratulations to Dmitri Hvorostovsky who has been awarded the Order of Merit for the Fatherland of the IV degree, for “his great contribution to the development of Russian culture and art, the media and many years of fruitful activity”.

The honour is awarded to citizens “for outstanding achievements related to the strengthening of Russian statehood, socio-economic development of the country, research activities, the development of culture and art, outstanding sporting achievements, the strengthening of peace, friendship and cooperation among peoples, for a significant contribution to strengthening the country’s defense capability.”[1]

Awarded the title ‘People’s Artist of Russia’ in 1995 – the highest honorary title for outstanding achievements in the field of music – this month’s honour also follows Dmitri’s admission to The Order of Alexander Nevsky in 2015.
