Elena Manistina returns to Opéra de Paris for role debut in Boris Godunov

This week, mezzo-soprano Elena Manistina makes her return to the Opéra de Paris to perform in Boris Godunov conducted by Vladimir Jurowski and Damien Iorio and directed by Ivo van Hove. This marks Elena’s role debut as the Innkeeper, though she has performed as Marina on many occasions.

Recent engagements have included Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden (La Fée Printemps) at the Opéra de Paris under conductor Mikhail Tatarnikov, and The Demon at La Monnaie, Brussels in the role of the Nurse. Engagements next season and beyond will see Elena’s return to both the Canadian Opera Company and the Metropolitan Opera.

Bass Alexander Tsymbalyuk will take on the title role in two performances, on 13 June and 9 July. Alexander was one of the youngest basses to ever perform the role on a major international stage at the Bayerische Staatsoper in 2013. Upcoming appearances include Rubenstein’s The Demon at the Gran Teatro del Liceu; and in concert: Don Giovanni in Japan, Samson et Dalila at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, and Boris Godunov at the Concertgebouw.

Boris Godunov opens Thursday 7 June and will continue for a total of twelve performances, finishing on 12 July. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit the Opéra de Paris website.
