Elīna Garanča honoured by the Vienna State Opera

On Friday Elīna Garanča was honoured by the Vienna State Opera with the title of ‘Kammersängerin’.
Dominique Meyer, the Intendant of the Vienna State Opera, gave a heartfelt welcome to this great singer, a firm favourite with the Viennese public, and the Award was presented to her by Austria’s Minister of Culture’  Claudia Schmied.
One of the youngest recipients of the Award, Miss Garanca is honoured for her devotion to the House, singing over one hundred and forty performances of eighteen roles since her debut in the House in 2003, beginning with the small role of Lola, and now the House’s reigning Carmen, Sesto, Giovanna Seymour, Charlotte and Oktavian.
