Enrique Mazzola and Vilde Frang open the Scottish Chamber Orchestra’s season

This week sees Enrique Mazzola conduct the Scottish Chamber Orchestra in three performances in Perth, Edinburgh, and Glasgow on the 26, 27 and 28 September respectively. Conducting a programme of Nielsen’s Helios Overture and Sibelius’ Symphony No.3, Enrique will also combine forces with Vilde Frang for Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major. Fresh from highly successful concerts with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Robin Ticciati, Vilde will embark on a tour with both over six dates in Switzerland, Germany, and France. Other upcoming highlights for Vilde this season include performances with the Orchestre National de Belgique, an eight-date European tour with the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg, and performances in Salzburg with the Mozarteumorchester and Trevor Pinnock.

Enrique embarks next week on a visit to Canada where he conducts the Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec joined by Cedric Tiberghien. Plans this season include his debut with Wiener Staatsoper (Don Pasquale) and return visits to Metropolitan Opera (La fille du regiment), Opernhaus Zurich (Turco in Italia), Bregenzer Festspiele (Rigoletto) and London Philharmonic Orchestra. He returns to Deutsche Oper Berlin to conduct their new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann and a special charity gala performance featuring renowned international singers. Plans with ONDIF this season include recordings and works by Respighi, of whose work he is an acclaimed interpreter.
