Enrique Mazzola returns to Opernhaus Zürich this month to conduct David Alden’s new production of Maria Stuarda, Donizetti’s tragic historical opera, with Serena Farnocchia and Diana Damrau as the bitter rival queens Elizabeth I and Mary, Queen of Scots respectively.
This is Enrique’s second visit to Zurich this season, having conducted performances of Il barbiere di Siviglia last October with Maxim Mironov as the Count, and Serena Malfi as Rosina.
Earlier this season Enrique conducted Le prophète at Deutsche Oper Berlin and I Puritani at Lyric Opera of Chicago. Later this season he will make his debut with Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse and conduct a concert performance of Rossini’s Cenerentola with his Orchestre national d’Île-de-France at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées.
Performances of Maria Stuarda take place between 8 April and 12 May. More information here.
