Enrique Mazzola returns to the Met

Enrique Mazzola returns to the Metropolitan Opera for performances of the opera comique La Fille du Regiment. This production by Laurent Pelly places the action during the First World War, with Javier Camarena starring as Tonio and Pretty Yende as Marie. Performances begin on 7 February, running until 2 March.

Audio from tonight’s opening performance will be streamed live on the Met’s website, and the final performance on 2 March will be broadcast as part of The Met: Live in HD.

A leading specialist in bel canto opera, Enrique conducts further opera this season with Opernhaus Zurich (Il turco in Italia), at the Bregenzer Festspiele (Rigoletto), with Wiener Staatsoper (his house debut – Don Pasquale) and has already returned to Deutsche Oper Berlin to conduct their new production of Les Contes d’Hoffmann.

Below is a sneak peak of the production, taken from the dress rehearsal: “Il faut partir” sung by Pretty Yende.
