This week, Finnegan Downie Dear will make his debut with Korea National Opera, leading a new production of Humperdinck’s masterpiece, Hänsel und Gretel.
Finnegan joined Askonas Holt earlier this summer. His performances are already making a great impact within Europe and we are delighted to see him venturing further afield to Asia. The 2018/19 season will include a second house debut at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where he will also conduct Hänsel und Gretel, and he returns to Polish National Opera to lead their revival of Mariusz Trelinkski’s award-winning production of Korngold’s Die tote Stadt.
On the symphonic podium this season, he will make a debut with the RTÉ Symphony Orchestra as well as conducting the London premiere of a newly released chamber edition of Mahler Symphony No. 10, with his own Shadwell Ensemble.
Performances of Hänsel und Gretel at the Seoul Arts Centre begin on Tuesday 9 October. For tickets and more information, please visit here.
