Askonas Holt is delighted to welcome French saxophonist Valentine Michaud to its roster for worldwide management.
Valentine received the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award in 2020, joining a select list of previous winners including Vilde Frang, Sol Gabetta and Antonie Tamestit. Jury Member Pamela Rosenberg described Valentine as “a phenomenal musician who has opened my ears to the saxophone’s unexpectedly enormous range of expression. She is expanding the frontiers of the instrument with her intriguing interdisciplinary performances.”
Valentine has already given recitals at Lucerne’s KKL, Wigmore Hall, Grand Philharmonic Hall St Petersburg, Wiener Konzerthaus and Tonhalle Zurich. Future highlights include her debut with the Wiener Philharmoniker under Gustavo Dudemel and a return to the Philharmonie in Luxembourg.
One of the founding members of SIBJA – a collective of artists from the world of art, dance, classical and electronic music who performing in unique settings – Valentine regularly performs with the SIBJA saxophone quartet and with pianist Akvilé Sileikaité. She remains at the forefront of commissioning new repertoire for her instrument.
