George Benjamin & Sarah Connolly recognised in Queen’s Birthday Honours

We are thrilled and delighted to announce that George Benjamin has been awarded a Knighthood and Sarah Connolly a Damehood in the 2017 Queen’s Birthday Honours.

George, who was made a CBE in the 2010 Birthday Honours, will premiere his new collaboration with Martin Crimp, Lessons in Love and Violence, at the Royal Opera House next year.

Sarah, who was made a CBE in the 2010 New Year’s Honours, is currently singing the role of Gertrude in Brett Dean’s new opera Hamlet at the Glyndeboune Festival, had this to say:

“I am entirely amazed and honoured to receive a DBE. I have always strived to be myself in a world where expectations can appear unattainable and strange, yet I have found sanctuary and delight too. I am so lucky to have learned, and keep learning from wonderful friends, colleagues and be supported by a loving family”

Congratulations to both Sarah and George!
