This week, Gergely Madaras makes his second operatic visit to the Grand Théâtre de Genève, directing the Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in a new production of Offenbach’s Fantasio. in co-production with the Opéra Comique. Fantasio is directed by the celebrated Thomas Jolly, recipient of the Molière Award for Best Director of a Public Theatre Show. This rarely performed comic opera is considered by some to be a forgotten masterpiece of the composer, and a stepping stone towards his famous opera Les Contes des Hoffmann.
Following Geneva, Gergely returns to the UK to work with the BBC Singers, and later in the season with the BBC Philharmonic, BBC Symphony and Hallé orchestras. Later in the season he will also perform in France, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Turkey and Switzerland.
