This Saturday the Heath Quartet give their debut performance at the Pierre Boulez Saal, Berlin’s new concert hall built as part of the Barenboim-Said Akademie. They will perform the complete Jörg Widmann String Quartet Cycle with soprano Carolyn Sampson, also collaborating with the composer himself who will give an in-depth pre-concert talk with the quartet.
The Widmann Cycle is the main focus of the quartet’s 2017/18 season, and will also be performed at London’s Wigmore Hall as part of a series of several concerts running throughout the season. Outside of London and Berlin other performances including Widmann’s quartets take place in Cambridge, Manchester and Stamford, amongst others, and in Messina, Italy.
