Iain Burnside and the NI Opera Festival of Voice

Over the summer, pianist Iain Burnside curated a series of song recitals recorded at the NI Opera’s Festival of Voice.  BBC Radio 3 will be broadcasting these concerts just after the 1pm news Tuesday to Friday this week.
Tuesday 12 November
Together with soprano Ailish Tynan, Iain presents a recital including works by Schubert, Parry, Stanford and Judith Bingham as well as Irish song arrangements.
Wednesday 13 November
This recital with bass-baritone Stephan Loges features songs by Schubert, Brahms and Somervell.  The programme also include settings of texts by Hermann Hesse by one of Finland’s most prolific song-writers, Yrjo Henrik Kilpinen.
Thursday 14 November
Iain is joined by soprano Claire Booth in a recital of music by Wolf, Debussy, Poulenc and Messiaen.
Friday 15 November
The final recital in the series features tenor Robin Tritschler in two song cycles: Schumann’s settings of nine poems by Heinrich Heine, Liederkreis Op.24, and settings of words by Thomas Hardy by Gerald Finzi, A Young Man’s Exhortation.
