Iestyn Davies’ return to the recording studio

Davies’ third solo recording for Hyperion.

Congratulations to Iestyn Davies who, this week, completes his second recording this year, which will represent his third solo recording for Hyperion and adding to his ever-expanding discography. His debut disc, Porpora Cantatas, was released to much critical acclaim, with The Guardian stating “Iestyn Davies, today’s most exciting British countertenor, sings…here with an awesome technique and flawless tone…”. His second foray, Arias for Guadagni, went a step further winning the Gramophone 2012 Solo Vocal Award. This third release sees him further develop his musical collaboration with the lutenist Thomas Dunford in a programme including works by Dowland and Campion: a collaboration which will then complete Iestyn’s Residency at the Wigmore Hall on 5th July 2013 and will then be presented in a recital tour of the US in March 2014.

Toi toi toi and bravo!
