James Gaffigan makes his Dutch National Opera debut with Porgy and Bess

Tonight, James Gaffigan makes his debut at Dutch National Opera conducting Gershwins’ seminal opera, Porgy and Bess. James will lead eight performances of Michael Yeargan’s celebrated production throughout January.

James has strong connections with Amsterdam and will return to the Royal Concertgebouw Hall for the prestigious NTR ZaterdagMatinee series on Saturday 2 February. Marking his first appearance of the season as Principal Guest Conductor of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, he will conduct Sofia Gubaidulina’s Offertorium, concerto for violin and orchestra and Brahms Symphony No. 4.

Opera engagements for the rest of the season include back-to-back productions of La fanciulla del West and Don Giovanni at the Bayerische Staatsoper, as well as a return to San Francisco Opera for Carmen.
