Jennifer Davis makes role debut in Hansel and Gretel, alongside James Rutherford and Christina Gansch

Today sees the premiere of Antony McDonald’s dazzling new production of Hansel and Gretel at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Featuring an array of Askonas Holt stars, Jennifer Davis will sing the title role of Gretel, James Rutherford takes on the role of the Father and Christina Gansch will be singing the Dew Fairy.

This marks an exciting role debut for Jennifer and her second new production at the Royal Opera House this year. Future highlights include a return to Dublin for her company and role debut as Pamina Die Zauberflöte, and First Lady in the same opera both with Welsh National Opera before making exciting debuts across the US and Europe next season. Continuing a brilliant season that began with Scarpia Tosca at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and Wotan Das Rheingold at the Hamburg Opera, James will return to Duisburg and Frankfurt next year for Wotan Der Ring and will appear in a concert version of Die Walküre for the Tanglewood Festival next summer.

A former studio and ensemble member in Hamburg, Christina will return to reprise the role of Pamina Die Zauberflöte later this season. Other opera highlights include Christina’s American debut as Dorinda Orlando for San Francisco Opera. Concerts in the New Year see Christina appear at the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical in Madrid for Haydn’s Nelson Mass & at Stiftung Mozarteum Salzburg for Davidde Penitente.
