The 2018/19 season has proved a triumphant one for Joyce DiDonato. Some of the many highlights include: her stage debut as Didon in Les Troyens at the Wiener Staatsoper; her first outings of Schubert’s Winterreise with Yannick Nézet-Séguin at the piano; her latest album release Songplay toured throughout the US; two further tours of In War & Peace with her beloved il pomo d’oro orchestra and Maxim Emelyanchev to Moscow and to Asia; performing the role of Sesto in La clemenza di Tito at the Metropolitan Opera; Berlioz’ La mort de Cleopatre with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Maestro Muti; a live recording of Marguerite in La Damnation de Faust with John Nelson and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg for future release; and a full opera recording and concert tour in her title role debut as Handel’s Agrippina, a role she will sing fully staged at the Royal Opera House to open her 2019/20 season.
This week, Joyce joins forces with Sir Antonio Pappano and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia to perform Rossini’s Giovanna d’Arco in concerts in Rome on 4, 5 and 6 June, and in Paris at the Saint Denis Festival on 7 June. The concert on 5 June will be broadcast live on Radio Rai 3.
