Friday night sees the launch of Joyce DiDonato’s latest album ‘Joyce & Tony’ two CD release on Warner Classics recorded live at Wigmore Hall last September. With Antonio Pappano at the piano, the repertoire ranges from Haydn and Rossini to Richard Rodgers and Jerome Kern. The Observer’s 5 star review has praised the disc commenting that “DiDonato’s immaculate voice relishes every vowel sound, Pappano responds with pianistic wit and idiomatic invention. Ad libs and applause are judiciously included. All a delight” and The Independent noting “both [Joyce] and Pappano offer light-spirited takes on Kern, Berlin and Arlen, before a yearning “Over the Rainbow” finds her, heels clicked, back in her native Kansas”. The album has also been lauded as “le choix de France Musique”.
DiDonato and Pappano will give a short performance of pieces from the disc at The Ivy in London on Friday evening, as well as a Q&A session with Neil Fisher, Deputy Arts Editor The Times. Visit The Times

A great start to DiDonato’s 2015/16 season, having just been announced as the Echo Klassik Singer of the Year 2015, she tours to Japan next month with The Royal Opera as Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). The season also includes her first Charlotte (Werther) for The Royal Opera, the world premiere of Jake Heggie’s ‘Great Scott’ at the Dallas Opera and a return to the Metropolitan Opera for her Elena (La donna del lago).
