Julie Fuchs makes role debut in Zurich

Julie Fuchs returns to Opernhaus Zurich this week, singing her first Donna Fiorilla in a new production of Il turco in Italia, conducted by Enrique Mazzola and directed by Jan Philipp Gloger.

A former member of the ensemble in Zurich, Julie enjoys a close relationship with the house. Last season she appeared in the title role L’incoronazione di Poppea, praised for her “vibrant and nuanced soprano” (bachtrack), and next season will return for Norina Don Pasquale and Zdenka in Richard Strauss’ Arabella.

While in Zurich for Il turco, Julie will also perform at the 3rd La Scintilla-Concert, conducted by Riccardo Minasi. Further notable engagements this season include two concert appearances at the Salzburg Festival and Carmina Burana at the Opéra National de Bordeaux.

An exclusive Deutsche Grammophon artist, Julie recently released her second album for the yellow label: Mademoiselle with Enrique Mazzola and the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France.

Il turco in Italia opens on 28 April, with performances running until 29 May. More information on Opernhaus Zurich’s website.
