Following on from a hugely successful role debut as Fiorilla in the Zurich Opera’s production of Il Turco in Italia, Julie Fuchs will make another debut as Eva in Caldara’s Baroque masterpiece La morte d’Abel. She will sing in two concert performances; firstly for the Pavia Festival on 21 May, followed by the Salzburg Festival on 9 June. Originally written for famed countertenor Farinelli, Frenchman Cristophe Dumaux will sing the role of Caino with Maestro Gianluca Capuano leading from the pit. Nahuel di Pierro, Lea Desandre and Nuria Real make up the remainder of the cast.
In addition to the performances of La morte d’Abel, and continuing the homage to Farinelli, Julie will also sing in a gala concert showcasing a myriad of Baroque favourites entitled Farinelli and Friends on June 8. Joining her for this concert at the Salzburg Whitsun Festival include opera stars Cecilia Bartoli, Philippe Jaroussky and Rolando Villazón, amongst others.
Further ahead, Julie will continue the tour of her recent release on the Deutsche Grammphon label, Mademoiselle. Together with Orchestra National d’Ile de France and Paolo Arrivabeni, the tour will first travel to Copenhagen for a concert at the Tivoli Gardens on 29 June, before finishing up at the Opéra Royal in Versailles on 3 July. To finish her season, Julie will sing a recital for the Aix-en-Provence festival on 16 July, accompanied by her longstanding pianist, Alhponse Cemin.
