This week, Karen Gomyo will simultaneously make her Philharmonia Orchestra and Royal Festival Hall debuts performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto under the baton of friend and frequent collaborator Jakub Hrůša. As well as the Mendelssohn, Karen’s season has prominently featured the seminal concerto of Tchaikovsky, with several critically acclaimed performances including with the symphony orchestras of Dallas, Houston and St Louis, as well as with the BBC Symphony Orchestra for the opening of the Dubai BBC Proms.
”Gomyo […] demonstrated nonstop flair, authoritative presence and flawless technique throughout. Her performance was so dazzling that she received a prolonged standing ovation at the end of the first movement, and another one at the concerto’s bravura conclusion. Her lyricism in the second movement was no less convincing.” (Sarah Bryan Miller, St Louis Post-Dispatch, 30 March 2019)
Notable forthcoming engagements include Karen’s debuts with Dresdner Philharmoniker alongside Roderick Cox and Deutsche Radio Philharmonie Saarbrücken Kaiserslautern with Pietari Inkinen.
