Kirill Karabits makes his Zurich Opera debut this weekend conducting Boris Godunov, with performances on 20, 23 & 26 September and 9, 16 & 20 October.
The new production is directed by Barrie Kosky and stars Michael Volle, Brindley Sherratt and Lina Dambrauskaite. It marks Kirill’s return to Mussorgsky’s masterpiece having conducted the work for Deutsche Oper Berlin last season in performances the Berliner Zeitung praised their “definition and intensity”.
Kirill returns to Zurich Opera later this season to conduct Tchaikovsky’s Eugine Onegin, followed by a tour of Asia with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe in an all-Beethoven programme featuring pianist Sunwook Kim. He opens his 2020/21 season conducting the Bournemouth Symphony online in what will be his twelfth season as the orchestras’s Music Director.
