Soprano Kristina Mkhitaryan makes her debut with Opera di Roma this Tuesday 3 July in a new production of La traviata. Under the leadership of conductors Yves Abel and Carlo Donadio, and directed by Lorenzo Mariani, Kristina reprises the role of Violetta in the unique setting of the ancient bathhouse of Caracalla.
This continues a busy and exciting season for Kristina, who stepped in at Deutsche Oper last month in performances of La traviata directed by Götz Friedrich, and performed with Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France under Leonardo Garcia Alarcón in Paris and Albi. She also made her house and role debut at Palau des Arts, Valencia as Medora in Il Corsaro under Fabio Biondi and Nicola Raab, and debuted at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden as Michaëla in Carmen.
Engagements this season and beyond include debuts at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Sydney Opera House, Metropolitan Opera, Palm Beach Opera, and Royal Opera House Muscat. She will return to Glyndebourne for Rinaldo and the Royal Opera House Covent Garden for Carmen.
Kristina appears in six performances at Carcalla, on 3, 5, 7, 13, 17, and 20 July. For more information and to purchase tickets, please visit the Opera di Roma website.
