LA Phil’s da Ponte trilogy reaches a climax with Così

Three Askonas Holts artists headline in performances of Così fan tutte this week, the final instalment in the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s da Ponte trilogy. Under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, the orchestra’s Music Director, Miah Persson sings Fiordiligi, Rod Gilfry is the manipulative Don Alfonso, ably assisted by Rosemary Joshua’s Despina.  The performances are staged by Christopher Alden on special installations designed by the world renowned architect Zaha Hadid with costumes created by the acclaimed couturier Hussein Chalayan.
Fiordiligi is one of Miah Persson’s signature roles and she has sung the role in many of the world’s leading theatres including the Metropolitan Opera, the Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper, Hamburgische Staatsoper and at the Glyndebourne and Salzburg Festivals.  Rod Gilfry’s Don Alfonso has most recently been seen in New York and he here repeats his acclaimed portrayal.  Despina is Rosemary Joshua who repeats the huge success she had in the role recently at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden.
The four fully staged performances will take place in the Walt Disney Concert Hall on 23, 25, 29 and 31 May.
