This Thursday 4 April, Long Yu returns to the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra alongside pianist Bertrand Chamayou. Presenting a varied programme of works by Chen (The Five Elements), Ravel (Piano Concerto for the Left Hand) and Rimsky-Korsakov (Scheherazade), Long and the orchestra will give two performances at Hamburg’s magnificent Elbphilharmonie, and one in Lübeck at the Musik und Kongresshalle.
These follow Long’s recent performances in the United States with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra alongside soloists Yo-Yo Ma and Wu Man; the latter of which has been described as a “constantly impassioned” and “sensational performance” (New York Classical Review).
This season and beyond, symphonic highlights include Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo, Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, Bern Symphony Orchestra, in addition to an extensive tour with the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. Long continues his historic and renowned relationships with the China Philharmonic Orchestra (Artistic Director & Chief Conductor), Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra (Music Director) and MISA Shanghai Summer Festival (Co-Director).
