Louise Alder debuts at the Bayerische Staatsoper, Munich

Tonight sees Louise Alder make her Bayerische Staatsoper debut as Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel. Eun Sun Kim conducts a first-class cast featuring Tara Erraught as Hänsel alongside Louise. It will not be the first time Louise performs the role of Gretel, having sung it to critical acclaim at Oper Frankfurt in 2014/15.

This debut continues a very exciting season for Louise who recently garnered success as Jessie in Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Silver Tassie & as Theodora in Handel’s Theodora with Jonathan Cohen and Ildebrando D’Arcangelo at the BBC Proms. Looking forward to March 2019, Louise will make her second debut this season singing the title role in La Calisto at Teatro Real, Madrid, conducted by Ivor Bolton and directed by David Alden. Louise continues as a member of Oper Frankfurt’s Ensemble where her roles in 2018/19 include Romilda Serse, Pamina Die Zauberflöte and Monica in a new production of Menotti’s The Medium.

As well as tonight, Louise will also sing Gretel on 9 December 2018. More information can be found here.
