Matthew Rose makes Metropolitan Opera debut!
Congratulations to bass Matthew Rose who, on Friday 18th November, made an auspicious debut at the Metropolitan Opera New York as Colline in La Bohème under the baton of Louis Langrée.
Writing in The Classical Review Caitlin McKechney commented that “Matthew Rose as Colline possesses a voice that is resonant in his deep bass while still having focus, and sang an emotionally poignant ‘Vecchia zimarra'”.
The latest of many successes in New York, Matthew’s debut at the Met follows acclaimed appearances at the Mostly Mozart Festival under Edward Gardner and Yannick Nézet-Séguin, at Carnegie Hall with Sir John Eliot Gardiner and at Avery Fisher Hall earlier this season singing Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the LSO and Sir Colin Davis. Matthew returns to the Met next season. Bravo !
