Matthew Rose debuts in Boris Godunov at Covent Garden



Matthew Rose will make his debut as Pimen in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov at the Royal Opera House this week. Matthew appears alongside an almost all British cast, starring Bryn Terfel in the title role and John Tomlinson as Varlaam. The production by Richard Jones will be conducted by Marc Albrecht, beginning on the 19 June and co-produced with the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Boris Godunov caps a fantastic 2018/19 season for Matthew that has seen a number of notable appearances, including Colline in La bohème and Ashby in La fanciulla del West for the Metropolitan Opera, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Opera Philadelphia and a critically acclaimed The Rake’s Progress with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Vladimir Jurowksi.

Further ahead, Matthew will appear with the Canadian Opera Company as Vodnik in Rusalka, Leporello in Don Giovanni  for Chicago Lyric Opera, Claudio in Agrippina for the Metropolitan Opera and Baron Ochs in Der Rosenkavalier for La Monnaie.
