Matthew Rose: in full operatic bloom!

Congratulations to Matthew Rose on reaching the half way point of his spectacular  2013 / 2014 opera season. The season began with the wonderful success at the Metropolitan Opera in one of his signature roles as Bottom the Weaver A Midsummer Night’s Dream a role that he has also sung in London, at the Glyndebourne Festival, in Houston and at  La Scala Milan and acclaimed in New York as “a tour de force from start to finish.”.

Having just concluded his role debut as Timur at the ROH, Covent Garden (“Matthew Rose was, as always, excellent” reported Rupert Christiansen in the Telegraph), he now makes his house debut at the Deutsche Oper Berlin in the role of Leporello, which he has already performed to great success at the Glyndebourne Festival, followed by his role debut as Enrico VIII in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena at the Bordeaux Opera. He concludes the season with a return to the the Royal Opera House as Talbot in  Maria Stuarda – a role he previously sang at the Metropolitan Opera last season.
