Michael Tilson Thomas 70th Birthday Gala concerts with the LSO

After wonderful musical celebrations in San Francisco and Miami, the birthday party continues for Michael Tilson Thomas with the London Symphony Orchestra now taking their turn to mark the 70th birthday of their former Principal Conductor.
The LSO party starts on Thursday 12 March with a Barbican concert featuring works by Colin Matthews, Gershwin and Shostakovich’s fifth symphony and continues on Sunday 15 March with Britten’s Four Sea Interludes, Shostakovich’s First Piano Concerto and culminating in Sibelius’ majestic Second Symphony. For both programmes, MTT is joined by one of his regular collaborators, the exciting young Chinese pianist, Yuja Wang.
The party does not end there, however! After the Barbican the LSO and MTT hot foot it back to his native America for a ten date tour starting at the Lincoln Center in New York and finishing in Seattle – via San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas.
Happy Birthday MTT!
