Michael Tilson Thomas returns to Konserthuset Stockholm to conduct Royal Stockholm Philharmonic

Michael Tilson Thomas returns to the Konserthuset Stockholm this week to conduct the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and soloists Toby Spence and Adam Plachetka performing Beethoven’s Missa solemnis. They are joined on the concert platform by Camilla Tilling, Katija Dragojevic and the Eric Ericsons Kammarkör.

These concerts with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic mark the start of a four-week period in Europe for MTT, during which he will conduct the Accademia Santa Cecilia performing Mozart Concerto for Two Pianos and Mahler Symphony No. 5, and will tour with the London Symphony Orchestra, for whom he is Conductor Laureate, performing Brahms Piano Concerto No. 2, Nielsen Symphony No. 5, Stravinsky Scenes de Ballet and Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 6 Pathétique.

Following Missa solemnis on 18 and 20 May, Toby travels to Barcelona for performances of Don Ottavio Don Giovanni at the Liceu, followed by La Clemenza di Tito at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Further ahead Toby will sing an evening of Britten and Purcell for the BBC Proms, Bruckner Mass in F minor with the Sinfonieorchester Basel and Anatol Vanessa for Frankfurt Opera.

Upon leaving Stockholm, Adam travels to London to perform Belcore L’Elisir d’Amore for the Royal Opera House, followed by Publio La Clamenza di Tito at the Festspielehaus Baden-Baden. He will begin the 17/18 at the Wiener Staatsoper, singing the title role in Don Giovanni.
