Munich Opera Festival 2017

The 2017 Munich Opera Festival begins this week, featuring a number of Askonas Holt artists. This year’s festival comprises 36 evenings of opera and ballet, in addition to a variety of concerts. Revolving around the title of the Bayerische Staatsoper’s 2016/17 season, ‘What follows’, the programme aims to question the consequences of our actions.

Ekaterina Siurina will commence festivities in the opening concert on the 24 June, performing a selection of arias by Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov and Glinka. Further highlights of the festival include Joyce DiDonato’s return to the title role of Semiramide on the 21 and 24 July, Elīna Garanča reprises the role of Léonor de Guzman in La favorite with Karel Mark Chichon conducting, plus the unique opportunity to see Simon Keenlyside & Band perform.

You can tune in to Staatsoper TV on the 1 July 7.00pm (CET) to watch a live stream of Christopher Maltman’s performance of Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten.
