Tomorrow, Nicholas Carter makes his debut with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein conducting Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, a new production directed by the highly acclaimed lyric tenor Rolando Villazón who also makes his directing debut at the opera. This ‘opera buffa’ in three acts tells the story of the vain Don Pasquale, an old bachelor seeking marriage, youthfulness and revenge.
This engagement follows Nick’s highly successful debut with Florida Orchestra, in a programme including Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with Vadym Kholodenko and Dvořák Symphony No. 6. In the remainder of this season he will return to Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, performances including Brett Dean’s Amphitheatre, Haydn’s Symphony No. 94 Surprise and Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 1 with Alina Ibragimova.
Performances take place from 29 April to 03 June 2017. For more information, see the Deutsche Oper am Rhein website.
