Following their North American tour in April this year, which received glowing reviews across the continent, the Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio embarks on a tour of Australia this month. Nicola Benedetti, Leonard Elschenbroich and Alexei Grynyuk made their debut as a trio in the 2009/10 season with multiple concerts in the UK and at Schloss Elmau in Germany. Since then, they have maintained their passionate commitment to chamber music alongside their careers as soloists with regular performances around the world.
“One has to be slightly in awe of the tonal beauty and strength of these three artists: Benedetti has a wonderful clarity, resilience and expression in her playing; Elschenbroich is slightly more modest, but cunning and probing, while Grynyuk has enviable keyboard touch and flexibility. The musicians pull together with a lovely tonal sheen and overarching weight at climaxes, and always secure transparent detail.” Seen and Heard International on the trio’s Canadian debut in April 2018
The Benedetti Elschenbroich Grynyuk Trio begin their tour on Saturday 3 November at the Melbourne Recital Centre, performing a beautiful programme of two sonatas by Richard Strauss, Brahms’ Piano Trio No. 2 in C major and Im Winde by Gordon Kerry.
The trio then travels across the country giving a total of nine concerts in seven cities. In addition to Melbourne, the trio performs in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Newcastle, and Adelaide. Off stage, the tour also includes a masterclass in Sydney and a string orchestra rehearsal with local students in Newcastle.
The 17-day tour finishes back in Melbourne on Tuesday 20 November, with a second programme including two sonatas by Prokofiev and Ravel’s Piano Trio.
