Nicola Benedetti & Thomas Søndergård with the RSNO

Following a successful tour to Asia with the orchestra and their Music Director just one month ago, Nicola Benedetti is back with Thomas Søndergård and the Royal National Scottish Orchestra this week, giving performances in Dundee (7 February), Edinburgh (8 February) and Glasgow (9 February).

The concerts feature bluesy, jazz-flavoured classics by Thomas Adès and Gershwin, before culminating in the Scottish premiere of the concerto that American jazz legend Wynton Marsalis wrote especially for Nicola.

She will then go on to Lucerne to play the Marsalis concerto again; this time with James Gaffigan and the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra with concerts on 13 and 14 February.

A passionate advocate for quality music education, the role of arts and culture in the wider community and the transformational effect it has on all young people, Nicola has recently launched two new projects: The Benedetti Foundation, and “With Nicky” – an online series of educational videos that intends to provide information, guidance, and support for young musicians throughout their musical and personal development. Read more about both projects on Nicola’s website, and watch her introductory video below.
