Following a successful series of European concerts with the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and Christian Reif earlier this month, Nicola Benedetti is back on tour. This time, Nicky will be appearing around the UK with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Mark Wigglesworth will conduct the concerts and lead the NYOGB and Nicky for Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, a piece that Nicky has performed on countless occasions to critical acclaim. The programme will also feature Lera Auerbach’s symphonic poem Icarus, inspired by the myth of the heroic but ill-fated son of Daedalus who flew too close to the sun, and a suite from Prokofiev’s passionate ballet score; Romeo and Juliet.
The tour will open with a performance at Victoria Hall in Stoke-on-Trent on 25 July before heading to Saffron Hall (26 July) and ending at the BBC Proms in London’s Royal Albert Hall (27 July). You can find out more about all of the performances at the NYOGB website.
