This week will see Edward Gardner expand his guest conducting in North America as he makes his debut with National Symphony Orchestra Washington on Thursday. In a concert entitled ‘Shakespeare at the Symphony: From Tchaikovsky to Elgar’, Edward will conduct Elgar’s ‘Falstaff’, Walton’s ‘Henry V – Suite’ and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This marks the first in a series of debuts including the New York Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony, Seattle Symphony and the Minnesota Orchestra.
Other US engagements this season include a return to the Metropolitan Opera New York for a production of Massenet’s ‘Werther’.
