Olena Tokar makes Moscow debut



This week Olena Tokar will make her Moscow debut as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel with the Moscow State Philharmonic Society at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. The concert, which will take place on Thursday 26 February, will be accompanied by the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra of Russia and conducted by Richard Farnes. The Ukrainian soprano is a member of the Leipzig Opera ensemble and has sung the title role there many times as well as in concert with the Philharmonia Orchestra at the Royal Festival Hall in London earlier this season. 

Olena, who was a finalist at the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition in 2013, is a current BBC New Generation Artist and made her Wigmore Hall debut this month. Future engagements include recitals in Cardiff, Thaxted and Schwerin, as well as Mahler Symphony No.2 with the National Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Poulenc’s Gloria with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Euskadi and Mimi in La bohème for the Verbier Festival.  In Leipzig, future roles include Norina in Don Pasquale and Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro
