Congratulations to Olena Tokar who has been awarded the Christine Kühne-Award at the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival 2016.
Olena convinced the panel with her stunning performances of arias by Dvořák, Mozart and Puccini across three separate concerts.
The President of the Klaus-Michael Kühne Foundation, Klaus-Michael Kühne, and his wife, Christine Kühne, said: “The support of top-notch growth, especially in the area of vocal music, is a special concern for us. The ‘Sängerfest der Jungen Elite’ gave talented artists from all over the world the opportunity to present themselves at one of the most famous music festivals in Germany. By awarding the Christine Kühne Prize, we would like to make a further contribution to the career development of young musicians. ”
Festspielintendant Dr. Markus Fein said: “We would like to thank the Klaus-Michael Kühne Foundation for their generous support. With the “Sängerfest der Jungen Elite”, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival was able to offer a much-respected forum to international young talent. We have experienced three outstanding concerts at the highest level. The choice between the consistently impressive young singers was not easy for us. Olena Tokar shone with her crystal clear intonation, mature interpretations of the work and charismatic stage presence. With her lyrical-warm voice she sang herself into the hearts of the audience. We are very pleased to welcome Olena Tokar in the series of our award winners. ”
The Kühne Foundations have been generously supporting the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival since 2006. In addition, the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival has been cooperating with the Kummer-sponsored music summer at the Lake of Zurich since 2013, where they present concerts with festival performers. The prize will be awarded to Olena at a special Opera Gala at the 2017 Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
Well done Olena!
