Oliver Johnston makes his debut this week at the Opéra National de Bordeaux in a series of performances of Handel’s ‘Messiah’. The three artistic forces of the opera – ballet, chorus and orchestra – come together for a contemporary twist on this magnificent work, conducted by Jane Glover, directed by Andrea Quinn and choreographed by Mauricio Wainrot.
Oliver has been accepted onto the prestigious Young Singers Project
at the Salzburg Festival this summer and will make his debut at the BBC Proms at the Last Night of the Proms
. He opens next season with his debut at Opera North in a new production of Billy Budd
(also starring Alan Oke
) and will also make his debut
with the Copenhagen Philharmonic. He recently received 3rd Prize at the All-Russian Nadezhda Obukhova Young Opera Singers’ Competition.
