On tour: Daniel Harding & Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

This weekend, Daniel Harding and the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra travel to Pisa to perform for the first time at the Anima Mundi Festival. They will celebrate the 900th anniversary of Pisa Cathedral on Saturday 15 September, performing Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5.
Daniel Harding has recently been announced as Artistic Director of the festival, taking over from Sir John Eliot Gardiner, who held the position for 12 years.

Daniel told The Green Room: “It is a huge honour to be taking up this role. I have long-admired the work of this wonderful festival, and what Sir John Eliot Gardiner has achieved there over the past 12 years. And being able to take part in celebrating the 900th anniversary of the consecration of the Cathedral of Pisa to Santa Maria Assunta with my Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra will be a particularly special moment. I am very much looking forward to working with the festival over the years to come!”

Our relationship with the Swedish Radio Symphony stretches back more than a decade, during which time we have had the great pleasure of touring the orchestra to China, Japan, Germany, France and the UK. We last toured the orchestra in 2014, bringing them to the Royal Albert Hall for a performance of Mahler Symphony No. 2 at the BBC Proms.
