On tour: New York Philharmonic returns to China

After a successful return to Beijing’s National Centre for Performing Arts in March 2018, the New York Philharmonic are back in China for a five-date tour with Jaap van Zweden. Marking the end of van Zweden’s inaugural season as Music Director, the tour begins with two performances in Guangzhou before continuing on to Nanjing and Shanghai.

The orchestra will present a rich and varied programme of works while on tour, including Rudolf Barshai’s arrangement of Shostakovich Chamber Symphony in C minor, Beethoven Symphony No. 3, Mozart Symphony No. 41 and Brahms Symphony No. 1. For the first of two performances in Shanghai, the orchestra are joined by pianist Seong-Jin Cho, who performs Mozart Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor.

It is always a great pleasure to continue our long association with the New York Philharmonic, and to reunite the orchestra with its Chinese audience once again.

Tour Dates:

27-28 June: Xinghai Concert Hall, Guangzhou

30 June: Jiangsu Centre for the Performing Arts, Nanjing

2-3 July: Shanghai Symphony Hall, Shanghai
