Otar Jorjikia begins the season in Un ballo in Maschera at Teatro della Muse

This Friday 21 September, tenor Otar Jorjikia makes his house debut with Teatro della Muse, Ancona, as Gustavo III in Verdi’s sophisticated Un ballo in Maschera. The melodrama, directed by Pete Brooks, recounts the assassination of the Swedish king Gustavo III at a masked ball in 1792, and will be conducted by Guillaume Tourniaire to open the theatre’s 2018/19 season.

Looking further ahead in the season, Otar performs Carmen (Don José), Simon Boccanegra (Gabriele Adorno) and Attila (Foresto) at the Mariinsky Theatre under Valery Gergiev. He will then perform La traviata and Carmen (Don José) at the Bolshoi Theatre under Tugan Sokhiev before making his Basel Opera house debut as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) in the New Year.
